1964: Decca Records released The Rolling Stones’ ‘Little Red Rooster’. Written by Willie Dixon and previously recorded by Howlin’ Wolf and Sam Cooke, it became a No.1 hit in the UK and remains the only time a blues song has ever topped the UK pop chart.

1976: Rod Stewart began an impressive eight-week run at No. 1 on the US singles chart with his hit song “Tonight’s The Night (Gonna Be Alright).” It was also notable for being the final number one hit of the US Bicentennial year.
